PTA VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

ACTPA Delegate

Every year, the President can appoint two delegates to represent Baldwin at the Austin Council of PTAs. Delegates attend ACPTA general membership meetings and Vertical Team meetings in order to connect with other PTA leaders, the district, and the community in Austin.

Baldwin Bash

An adults-only fundraising event that includes dinner and dancing with both live and silent auctions. One of the PTA’s biggest fundraisers, Baldwin Bash is a spring event that needs volunteers for décor, logistics, collecting donations for the auctions, and more!

Baldwin School Volunteers

Baldwin teachers and staff need volunteers to help with various events and duties throughout the year. The PTA Volunteer Coordinator and/or Room Mom may be asked to help with finding volunteers as needed. Check out the Baldwin School site for more information.

Baldwin Weekly Roar

A weekly e-newsletter delivered on Sundays. Volunteers are needed to collect information on upcoming school events and important dates and compile them in the weekly e-newsletter and maintain an email distribution list.

Baxter the Bobcat!

Promote Baldwin at events including first day of school, Vocabulary Parade, and fun-run by wearing the Baxter costume!

Budget Committee

Develop the annual PTA budget; study previous year budget to establish how well it met needs; determine/project financial requirements for upcoming year; present budget at the last general PTA meeting of the school year for adoption by the membership.

Care & Share Program

Assisting Baldwin families during the holidays by collecting gift certificates, clothing, and presents. Our school counselor will identify families with needs and provide an anonymous list of requests.

Carnival

The annual fall carnival is the biggest PTA fundraiser of the year. Numerous activities and games are offered for children and families. Our carnival tradition began in 2010, the first year Baldwin was open. Numerous volunteers are needed both in advance and day of to make the event a success!

Family Fun - Bingo Night

Organize a bingo night in the Fall!

Family Fun - Family Dance

Organize a fun night of dancing for kids and parents alike

Family Fun - STEAM Night

Organize a fun night of science, technology, engineering, art, and math in conjunction with the Science Fair in January

Family Fun - Winter Wonderland

Organize a night of fun including Santa and other holiday traditions

Great Leaps Reading Program

Recruit and coordinate parent volunteers to become trained tutors in an evidence based, fluency-building reading program targeted for 1st grade students.

HEB Gift Card Program

Administer the HEB Gift Card Program. Volunteers are needed to recruit participants, send reminders and notifications, manage the account, and mail cards to recipients.

Incoming Kinder Playdates

Organize multiple playdates throughout the summer for incoming Kindergarten students and parents and organize a final “Kindergarten Kick-off” party in August.

Reflections Art Program

Lead the Reflections program - a national PTA-sponsored, arts-in-education recognition program which encourages children to express themselves through literature, art, music, photography, dance, and film/video. Volunteers are needed to publicize the program, coordinate entries, set up showcase, find judges, and hand out awards.

Scholarship

Volunteers are needed to solicit and review applications for an annual scholarship awarded a high school senior who attended Baldwin.

School Supplies Coordinator

Work with administration and teachers to gather lists of anticipated back-to-school supplies for the following year, work with third-party vendor to sell school supplies, and coordinate distribution of pre-ordered supplies at Meet the Teacher night.

Spirit Nights

Lead the Spirit Night fundraisers. Responsible for finding restaurants and businesses that would like to provide a portion of their sales on specific nights to Baldwin and for publicizing the Spirit events to our community.

Spirit Shop Merchandise

Design and sell Baldwin spirit merchandise including t-shirts, cups, caps and more! Volunteers are needed to coordinate sales and to distribute merchandise.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation

Organize efforts to honor the teachers and staff; provide meals/snacks for faculty at meetings, luncheons, and other special events as needed.

Volunteer/Room Parent Coordinator

Communicate PTA and school volunteer needs via website, social media, and email.

Watch D.O.G.S

A national school-based, father involvement program that works to support education and safety. Dads and father-figures spend a school day assisting around the school and in their child’s classroom.

Webmaster

Develop and maintain the PTA website www.baldwinpta.org, including weekly posting of information to the home page and monthly updates of other relevant content. Administer and maintain domain email accounts and domain hosting.

Yearbook

Work on a team to ensure general and individual class pages are complete and submitted to the yearbook publisher by certain deadlines in January and February; includes finding volunteers to take photos and perform page layouts, organizing yearbook sales, and distributing yearbooks; must coordinate with the school principal.
